After she leaves the terrible husband, after she runs and runs and runs through the forest, after she gets caught by the giant and is locked in his hut waiting for him to return from his hunt to eat her for his dinner, the Woman-Who-Becomes-the-Fox-Woman hears a voice whisper from deep inside say, “Become raven!”

At first she doesn’t know what that means, but then she discovers a beautiful pair of wings hanging from the rafters. Exhausted from a bad marriage, a narrow escape, running and surviving through the forest, now the prisoner of a giant, the mental, emotional and physical toll life has taken is so great. The only thing she can think to do is to go get those wings.
